Description
The expanding Breast Imaging section at the University of Utah’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences seeks a full-time, fellowship-trained Breast Imaging Radiologist. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to innovation in clinical care, research, and education. Hybrid work arrangements are offered, subject to departmental needs and accessibility requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Expertise: Provide comprehensive breast imaging services, including digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, MRI examinations, and performing image-guided biopsies and preoperative needle localizations using X-ray, ultrasound, and MRI guidance.
- Education: Teach and mentor radiology residents, fellows, and medical students, fostering a culture of learning and inquiry.
- Academic Track
- Research: Contribute to expanding the department’s research portfolio with opportunities for collaboration in breast imaging innovation, including advanced imaging techniques and breast cancer treatment options
- Quality and Innovation: Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and value-based care strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered breast imaging services.
- Clinical Track: Focus on clinical work providing a high-quality interpretation of screening and diagnostic imaging (DBT, US, and MRI), performing procedures and localizations.
Facilities and Resources:
You will work in state-of-the-art facilities that support a robust clinical, educational, and research environment. These include:
- Clinical services at Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers, a world-class facility dedicated to women’s health within our regional NCCN designated regional cancer center and several outpatient centers.
- Advanced imaging modalities, including 100% tomosynthesis mammography fleet, tomosynthesis-guided biopsy systems, MRI-guided interventions, dedicated breast ultrasound units, and potential for abbreviated breast MRI and contrast-enhanced mammography (the latter currently used as an investigational device).
- Opportunities for cutting-edge research collaborations, including the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR), which provides access to imaging sciences, physics, engineering, and more expertise.
- Collaboration on ongoing innovations such as MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for breast cancer treatment.
Additionally, we anticipate the option for some remote screening and MRI shifts in the next academic year.

Requirements
- Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
- Completed a fellowship in Breast Imaging or equivalent training with expertise in all aspects of clinical breast imaging.
