
Description
The primary mission of the Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) is student success and wellbeing. The position is also responsible for support of recruitment and admissions and management of all student-related issues throughout the PharmD program (from application to graduation) in compliance with ACPE accreditation standards, state and federal laws, and School and University policies and procedures. The ADSA leads a team of Office of Student Services (OSS) staff members dedicated to fulfilling these responsibilities. In addition to the administrative role, the ADSA is responsible for teaching in the school's professional degree curriculum and contributing to the scholarship and service components of the school's overall academic mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support and Success: Lead initiatives to support student success, including academic performance monitoring, tutoring programs, student case management, accommodations, and career services. Serve as a primary point of contact for individual student issues, ensuring appropriate interventions and documentation.
- Policy Development and Oversight: Develop, implement, and oversee student-related policies and procedures, including those related to scholastic advancement, accommodations, drug testing, and student conduct. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, school policies, and legal requirements.
- Program and Event Coordination: Oversee planning and execution of key student-related events, such as orientation, White Coat Ceremony, career fairs, and graduation. Manage processes related to student awards, scholarships, degree audits, and matriculation.
- Admissions Leadership: Lead and manage the admissions process, including setting prerequisites, application reviews, candidate interviews, and matriculation. Collaborate with marketing teams to enhance recruitment efforts and ensure enrollment goals are met.
- Supervision and Team Management: Oversee and mentor a team of student services staff, ensuring effective workflows, performance evaluations, and alignment with strategic goals. Manage associated budgets and resource allocation.
- Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with faculty, university entities, and external organizations to address student needs and maintain accreditation standards. Prepare and present reports to internal and external stakeholders, including accreditation bodies.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Dean:
- Hold a Pharm.D. or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field such as pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology or a closely related field.
- Record of scholarship, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as an Associate or Full Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
- 0 – 4 years of leadership experience in higher education.
Associate Dean:
- Hold a Pharm.D. or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field such as pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology or a closely related field.
- Record of scholarship, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as an Associate or Full Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
- 4+ years of leadership experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated record of commitment to furthering the profession of pharmacy.
- Significant experience in pharmacy education and practice, or higher education.
- Experience working in higher-education student affairs.
