Responsibilities

Responsible for the management and coordination of federal, state, and institutional audit and compliance activities within the Office of Financial Aid to ensure quality assurance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Responsible for the management and coordination of federal, state, and institutional audit and compliance activities within the Office of Financial Aid (OFA) to ensure quality assurance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. Conducts self-assessments and compliance appraisals of federal and state statutes, regulations, and policies to evaluate the appropriate controls of Financial Aid processes to ensure compliance. Research code of federal regulations, state statutes and other resources related to compliance to ensure OFA policy and procedures manual is compliant. Serves as liaison for audits and compliance activities and partnerships with senior leadership to coordinate efforts timely and efficiently.

Conducts audits in accordance with quality assurance and standards issued by federal, state and institutional entities. Responsible for collecting and analyzing financial aid data to identify risk management coordination and reviews internal controls for efficiency and effectiveness to ensure compliance with University, federal and state regulations. Responsible for designing, developing and implementing a comprehensive internal control program for internal audit process and determines scope, objectives and strategic goals for audit program. Leverages technology to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Communicates the results of audits to senior management and develops recommendations to improve the effectiveness of risk management and internal control. Collaborates with OFA Program Directors and senior management to design, develop and implement control mechanisms such as queries and checklists as well as implement audit and/or compliance measures for ensure sound internal controls and that appropriate measures are established to maintain compliance.
Creates informational databases and training materials to aid staff members achieve quality assurance. Ensures that Financial Aid and university web sites are compliant with federal and other requirements including, but not limited to, consumer information requirements.

Monitors the progress of audit findings and implementation plans to ensure completion and/or provide recommendations for an alternate course of action to meet compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience.

(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years)

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Experience gathering, interpreting, reporting, and editing information.

Ability to conduct audits and investigations.

Experience evaluating processes and their effectiveness, with the ability to present alternatives to management.

Preferred

Ideal candidates will have previous Financial Aid experience, knowledge of federal, state, and University rules and regulations concerning Financial Aid and experience preparing financial and fiscal reports. Candidates should have experience performing accurately in a detail oriented environment and experience with effective communication, both verbally and in writing, and capable of preparing and presenting reports. Previous experience conducting audits and investigations is preferred.

Anticipated Salary Range

Mid to High $40,000's
